Welcome note
The ARC Future Grids Training Centre began its Annual R&D Workshop with a welcome from Centre Director Professor Kashem Muttaqi, who highlighted the importance of collaboration between industry and research. Dr. Ashish Agalgaonkar hosted the morning session, which included opening remarks from Gursel Alici and Thomas Griffiths on the Centre’s goals, followed by a keynote from Nanduni Indeewaree Nimalsiri from CSIRO on the latest in sustainable energy research. Thanks to Centre Manager Marjo Niemelä for her support. The day set a great tone for sharing ideas and building partnerships.
Research Seminar Session
A key feature of the workshop was the Women in Engineering (WIE) Luncheon and Panel, which underscored the importance of equity and diversity in driving innovation within the engineering field. Accomplished female leaders shared personal experiences, addressed systemic challenges, and discussed strategies for inclusive leadership. The session also served as a valuable platform for networking and professional connections.

Industry leaders discussed strategies for achieving a net-zero energy future, highlighting technological advancements, regulatory frameworks, and market challenges. Panellists explored regulatory challenges, technological advancements, and investment trends, emphasizing the urgent need for interdisciplinary solutions to accelerate the transition.

The IEEE IAS Leadership Workshop 2024 ended on a high note with a vibrant group photo, capturing the energy, collaboration, and connections forged throughout the day.
